Good morning lovelies! Are you all having a good week? You may have heard about an exciting new event for Brisbane brides that I’m going to be a part of in August – The Vintage and Handmade Bridal Showcase, and I’m going to tell you all of the juicy details!
The showcase is the creation of Melanie from Silver Sixpence & Kim from Hermia’s Wishes – both supremely talented (& nice to boot!) ladies who have a passion for all things vintage, creative, well-designed & offbeat when it comes to weddings. In the words of the ladies themselves, the showcase will be an ‘evening of fashion and fabulousness, with many vendors under the one roof to share with you plenty of inspiration for planning your very own vintage/handmade/rustic wedding.’
Are you getting excited yet?!
As if the showcase wasn’t enough, they will also be offering a program of workshops especially for the DIY-bride who wants to get all the fabulous insider tips and tricks on putting together amazing creative details for their wedding. My Darling Heart will be offering a workshop on how to create beautiful vintage-inspired DIY favours for your guests (now I know you’re definitely excited about that!).
My new favour range, Oranges & Lemons, will also be officially launching on the night of the showcase and I’ll be sharing a special code with those who attend that will get you 10% off the range when you purchase through my Etsy shop. I will also be offering a prize to one very lucky bride on the night – a voucher for $250.00 towards anything in our shop! You could use the voucher towards favours for your wedding or bridal shower, or handmade decorations!
Make sure you stay tuned to The Vintage and Handmade Bride’s blog and facebook page to get all the goss on the wonderfully creative vendors who will be exhibiting at the showcase, and all of the fantastic prizes that will also be on offer on the night.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Ship Inn on 12 August!
We are heading to the other side of the world today for our Friday Flowers post – all the way to Sweden! As today is Midsummer, which is the most celebrated festival aside from Christmas for Northern European countries, I thought you may enjoy a little taste of a Scandinavian wedding!
Heart-shaped flower wreaths like this one are quite popular in Scandinavian weddings and my oh my they are also quite beautiful! Wreaths are often also made of couple’s initials – swoon! Wouldn’t they be perfect as a ceremony backdrop or behind the bride & groom chairs at the reception? If you’re after more wedding inspiration from this part of the world there is an entire blog devoted to the lovliness that is a Scandinavian wedding – PrettyChicBlog. Enjoy!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Katy x x
For any kind of outdoor event, picnics are just about as sweet as they come – the dappled sunlight, fresh air, the relaxed atmosphere…ahh I feel like having a picnic right now! And for an intimate outdoor wedding they are super sweet. There are so many cute and scrumptious picnic foods and desserts to serve your guests, and if you want to take it to the next level, serving the food in vintage picnic baskets would be the bee’s knee’s!
To keep the theme running through every element your favours need to be picnic inspired as well, like our ‘Picnic for Two’ favour bag or ‘Our Little Picnic’ favour box . These are both such a sweet little favours which guests find delightful – the icing on the cake for a picnic wedding!

Have a lovely week,

Lavender is popping up in many places lately, it’s lovely to see it being used in so many delightful ways! No longer only appearing in bridal bouquets, with a little creativity you can utilise this versatile flower in many different forms – a delicate sprig tied to your guests napkins, cones of vintage music sheets filled with dried lavender and rustic bunches decorating guest tables. And of course it smells just divine! A little calico drawstring bag filled with dried lavender makes the loveliest wedding or bridal shower favour. I’ve gathered a few images for you to swoon over and get some ideas on how to use this vintage chic flower.

I am as pleased as punch to let you know that our shopfront is officially open and ready for business! I sell my lovely vintage inspired wedding wares on Etsy – why not visit and take a look around?
Currently in the shop are several of my favour designs from the Some Enchanted Evening range, and very soon the entire range will be available in the shop. All designs can be altered to suit the unique style of your wedding day and our boxes and bags can be filled with a large range of delightful sweet treats – from sugar cookies and French macarons to popcorn and rock candy – to more traditional fillers like heart chocolates and sugared almonds. My Darling Heart is dedicated to creating the perfect favour for your wedding!
I am currently working awfully hard on the second range, Oranges & Lemons, to be released in August – so stay tuned for more loveliness!
Although I have an undying passion for floral pretties, I can’t produce a floral arrangement to save myself! My flower styling skills are limited to buying one bunch of the same bloom and plonking them into a mason jar, but I live in hope that one day I will do a floristry course and my hidden talent will magically appear! In the meantime my interest for flowers is limited to ooing and ahhing over other people’s lovely work and I plan to share my favourites with you every Friday (hence Friday Flowers!)
The first Friday Flowers feature is from Imbue Weddings (very fitting as they are usually the floral arrangements I am oohing and ahhing over!). Kristy from Imbue always manages to produce such stunning work in both bride & bridesmaids posies as well as table arrangements that are just the icing on the cake for a wedding. Do check out her work and I promise you’ll be in love with it!
