{favour inspiration} gourmet toffee apples

Now I know what you may be thinking – toffee apples are more ‘five year-old’s birthday party’ than chic wedding favour, but this classic treat has undergone a makeover. Think non-traditional toffee apples dipped in thick caramel and topped with choc chips, crushed nuts or pastel sprinkles – wrapped up in clear cellophane and tied with a cute tag  and you have a pretty amazing wedding favour.  And don’t think that your event needs to be carnival-themed or that your toffee apples should sit alongside bags of popcorn and fairy floss for you to give these delightful treats to your guests. Gourmet toffee apples fit in perfectly with casual, rustic weddings or as a playful touch to more formal affairs, and I’d love to see more of them in creative, handmade celebrations!

{favour inspiration} teacups + succulents

I’m a huge fan of non-edible favours for weddings, and as far as non-edible wedding favours go I think mini succulents in vintage teacups pretty much takes the cake. These favours are perfect keepsakes of your celebration and they also suit many different styles of wedding – from rustic barn to glam garden party, the teacup succulent is just perfection.

Finding the number of teacups you need may be a challenge – be prepared to scour many vintage and second hand shops in the lead up to your wedding and get family and friends on board for The Great Teacup Hunt. It also pays to do some research on good local nurseries in your area to supply succulents in bulk, rather than paying a fortune buying them from large commercial nurseries. This is a favour that requires a lot of effort but it sure would be worth it to give your guests such a gorgeous and thoughtful keepsake.

{wedding favour inspiration} vintage-style handkerchiefs

I love the idea of giving vintage-style handkerchiefs as wedding favours, and if you want to add a few vintage-inspired details into your wedding but don’t want to go overboard then these little hankies are perfect and oh so sweet. I’ve been playing around with some favour designs which incorporate  handkerchiefs and this is my favourite. It’s a two-fold gift for your wedding guests, as they get a box of sweet treats as well as a pretty vintage-style hankie – a lovely keepsake to remind them of your wedding day.

The ultimate traditional wedding favour sweet – the sugared almond!

I love the variety of sweet treats that are given as favours in modern weddings, but we all know the traditional wedding favour option was the sugared almond. The bitterness of the almond and the sweetness of the sugar symbolised the bitterness of life and the sweetness of love – that’s pretty darn cute right? But the good old sugared almond has fallen out of fashion lately and is now seen as terribly grandma-ish.  But I have a confession to make – I love them! I love their chic pastel colours, the way they look when piled into a vintage crystal comport and when packaged into little clear bags. And I think the little sugared almond is making a big comeback.

Sugared almonds, or jordan almonds, are really versatile as a wedding favour and you can put a modern (or vintage-inspired!) spin on the packaging you use for them. Or include them on your sweets table alongside macarons, mini cupcakes and chocolates. They come in pastel shades as well as brighter shades, and also in metallics – tres chic!
